All About Wigs/Hair Extensions 101

Frequently asked questions:

Why does the wig doesn't stay in place on my head?

If you feel that the wig isn't secured on your head, you could take a look on the inside of the wig and adjust the adjustable hook part for the tightness that you're comfortable with.

Why do my wigs hair fall out?

It's natural for it to fall, as it is machine-made wigs. The wigs are fabricated by weaving hair into wefts (hair shafts that are woven together at one end into a long strip). These can be sewn in rows to a net foundation. When the wig gets tangled up, please don't comb it too hard as it will cause the wig hairs to fall out.

It is recommended to use wig spray which is specialise for targeting of tangling of wigs and then gently using wigs comb to comb it. If the wig gets tangled up badly, you can use a scissor to cut slightly the tangled portion. By doing this, it would not affect the overall appearance of the wig.

Why we can't we achieve the look that the model has even though it's the same wig?

Firstly, wearing a wig has some tactics to make it look it look natural. You can practice a few times, and find your own way to make it look natural. Most of the wigs need minimal styling, when wearing so that it will suit you.

➛Tips to make the wig look natural on the top:

✥ For the side/mid/bangs wigs, you can try to play around with the parting, the key here is to not wear the wig as how it is, as you want to try to make it look as natural as possible. Try some methods with the wig to try to frame your face shape.
✥ For bangs wig, you can trim the bangs to look less thick to make it more natural, otherwise you could also push the bangs more to the side to achieve more airy bangs.

✥ For the side bangs wigs, we would recommend to use hair rollers to give volume to the partings. By doing so, it would make the wig scalp area to be less obvious and more natural looking.

For the straight wigs, some of the wigs are not made to have c-curls at the ends, the wigs are like totally straight till the ends, you can use hair rollers, hair dryer and a comb to blow the ends or using low heat styling tools to give it a curl inwards (recommended 120 degree and below)

Can we dye or use styling tools on the wigs/hair extensions?

High synthetic fiber wigs could use heat styling tools on it that's under 130 degree. (Curlers or straighteners wise)

It is recommended to not use too high heat on the wigs as it will damage the quality of the wig. We definitely would highly recommend of using curling rollers instead of styling heat tools on the wigs, as you can achieve a similar effect which minimise the damage for the wig.

Wigs can be dyed, however we definitely do not recommend it.
High synthetic fiber wigs are usually created from processed fibers which makes them hard to be dyed. The synthetic materials used don't have the natural pigments that real human hair does, which means that regular hair dyes won't work well on synthetic wigs causing colors to fade out easily. Also, dying the wig may cause the wig scalp to be dyed in the process which would cause it to be not able to wash it out. It's definitely not recommended to dye the wigs.

Could we trim the wig/hair extensions?

Yes of course, due to factors like face shapes and head sizes you could trim the wig accordingly to your own preferences. Some people like it to be longer, while some people may likes it to be shorter. That's totally up to you! (Applies to hair extensions as well)

Uses of wig care products:

WIG NET CAP: Provides a layer of friction against the wig, which helps to provide a better grip for the wig on your head. Helps to secure your hair in place throughout the day as well. *Highly recommended for it*
The wig net cap also acts as a scalp protector.

WIG STAND: Use for the storage of the wig when it is not worn. Use especially after washing the wig, prevents the wig from tangling while drying up.

WIG MAINTENANCE SPRAY: Recommended to have as it helps to extend the life of the wigs and extensions. Acts like a conditioner, which helps to soften, provide moisture for easier management of the wigs/hair extensions. (Recommended to use with the wig detangling comb) *with a nice fragrance*

WIG DETANGLING COMB: It is a stainless steel needle tooth brush, which is recommended for synthetic wig fibers as it helps to prevent the shedding of hairs and stretching of fibers. Using a normal comb that's suitable for human hair will damage the wig fibers.

Recommended to have, good in targeting at tangling areas. Anti-static, which helps to prevent tangling and minimising the frizz in synthetic wigs. It is a brush that's specially designed for wigs only.

BANGS ROLLER: It helps to keep the shape of your bangs intact and gives more volume. Prevents your bangs from going flat. Could be used for side/mid parting as well, giving more volume at the top part.

How to maintain and organise your wigs for properly storage?

It will be recommended to have wig spray, wig comb and a wig stand for better storage of the wigs.

Washing steps:

1: Put the wig into a basin of hair shampoo (around 1-2 pumps) and water and soak it for 1-2 minutes, you can gently wash it but do not scrub together.

2: Then gently, press and remove excess shampoo from the wig and then use tap water to rinse out the shampoo, you can use conditioner as well after rinsing out the shampoo (put the conditioner from up to downwards)

3: After that, use a towel to absorb the excessive water out from the wig. Gently press out the water. (Optional: before absorbing the water out for the wig you can choose to use a comb to brush the ends of the wig)

4: Put the washed wig in a non-direct sunlight and a well-ventilated place for it to air dry up on a wig stand. (Recommended to use a wig stand for drying of the wig, for it to dried up properly.)    *take note: do not use hair dryer to dry wig*

5: After it is dried, use the maintenance spray and spray the ends of the wig at around 10cm away. Afterwards you could use the wig comb to brush the ends of the wig.

Storage steps:

1: After using of the wig, use the wig spray and spray an adequate amount on the wig.

2: Gently, use the wig comb to comb the wig.

3: Put the paper wrapper that came along with the wig back into the wig net portion.

4: Store the wig back into the mesh elastic hair net that was provided. Avoid storing the wig with other items to prevent pressure being applied to the wig as it is to maintain the quality, shape and the condition of the wig.

How do you wear a wig?

Step 1: Put on the wig net cap. To wear, stretch the wig net cap over your head and line it up according to your hairline. Make sure to capture all your hair into the wig net cap. Tie the top part of the net cap if there’s an opening. You could secure it in place with a few bobby pins at the edges.

Try to flatten your hair as much as possible after wearing the net cap to prevent bumps. If there’s bumps, try to rub it to smoothen and even your hair in the net.

Step 2: Adjust on the tightness of the wig before wearing to ensure it fits on your head nicely. Make sure the 2 hooks, hooks on the different section and is not hooking on one another.

Step 3: (Optional) Before wearing you could use the wig brush to comb it gently.

Step 4: Then, put on the wig, after putting on make sure to press down the center part and adjust the middle part so it will look natural. After that, adjust the back part of the wig and make sure your hair and the netting are inside the wig.
